My momma is OBSESSED....and NOT with a doxin!

Her got this new-fangled machine that lives up on da kitchen counter. No big deal, right?....WRONG. This machine has taken over her mind, and negatively affected OUR lives.

Before this machine came to live on da counter, her FIRST priority every morning was the care and feeding of the beloved doxins (us). Now her gets all excited and giggly over which little white Nom-cup her is going to put in da machine! We have been delegated to a distant second place.

And her is collecting those Nom-cups like they is going out of style! She brings all different kinds home by the boxload, and delights in all the different flavors and varieties available. They LOOK like cute little treats, butt trust me, these Nom-cups taste TERRIBLES.....cuz we tried to taste one that I stole from da trash can. Yuck!

I'm starting to get concerned.

My Peep is a FLAKE

So, I has been struggling with this post all week. Not because of lack of ideas.....butt because I decided I need to pare down my narrative to a manageble and readable length. Truth is, a post about my momma's flakiness could easily resemble da novel, War & Peace, if I don't do some serious editing.

Some of the flakes that I have edited out (i.e. her crazy possum encounters, her Wally Marte issues, etc etc etc) because they have been addressed previously on this bloggie. And I thinks you will easily get the idea, from the examples to follow:

I present two sample little snippets for your reading pleasure. Think of this as the Cliff Notes of Flakiness.

Example A:
There was the night (pretty long ago.....so you know the flakiness is NOT a recent development) her called our Uncle Chris in utter panic, because (angel sissie) Runway was having a most terrible allergic reaction to 'flea sprays'. Her called him right up, and was in total hystericals and crying and going on and on like..
"What should I do??? What should I do??? Can you help?? Can you Help?? "
Now, this may not seem so flakey on da surface............the flakey part was that my momma lives in Houston, Texas and her was calling up our Uncle Chris while he was living in Saudi Arabia! The man was about 8000 miles away, with a 9 hour time difference!!!!
If her had her head on straight, her just might have come up with someone a little more local to assist her. Sigh.

Example B:
Prolly the most flakey thing about my momma is her "issue" with Dog Names.
Her is very particular about our names and always wants to be sure that our name suits us just perfectly. Again, this may sound like a normal thing........butt, in many instances, her has taken this to a truly flakey level.

Some of us have had very unusual dog names (these are her favorite). As example, have you ever known a "Minna Krebs" before? I think not. Some of her other favorites were Icee Bear, Ubba Bear, and Runway.

Some of us (like my sissie, Ditto) went without a name for almost 4 months without a name (Pickles got her name in a mere 6 weeks)!!!! All the while, my momma is studying every name known to man and dog, trying to decide on "the perfect" one. She goes on for a day or so, calling us by the PRACTICE NAME, to see if it "Fits". In most cases, it don't, so we are on to the next PRACTICE NAME.

Some of us have started out life with one name....and have had their name changed ~~a few~~ ~~several~~ lots of times. Now, this is different from the example above, where her tries out a name for a day or two. Her has let some of us live with a name fur months and months, and THEN her changes our name.

Olive Oyl came with da name Sugar, when her was rescued.

Then her became Tootsie

Then her became Toots

Then her became Olive Oyl.

My poor name-challenged brudder Rooney came with da name Mr. Rogy, when he was adopted.....over the next three years....

Then he became Mr. Dog

Then he became Mr. Rooney (her couldn't stop there)

Then he became Awesome

Then he became Daytona

Then he became Army

Then he became Shooter

Then he became Rooney (drop the Mr.)

(her has been tempted to change it again, in the past couple years, butt everyone refused to call him anything different) Poor Rooney. He has previously gone to da Vet office, only to find his last visit he was listed under a different name!!! sigh.

I could go on and on and on and on...........butt, my paws are getting weary from typing abouts all this flakieness!!!

Before Baby Jesus was born, his mother, Mary, and her husband, Joseph, had to travel through the countryside to the town of Bethlehem. Their trip took many days. They traveled up and down steep hills.

To make things easier for Mary, an ordinary donkey carried her on his back and Joseph led the way.

"A donkey, just like me?" asked the donkey.

"Yes, a donkey just like you," said the cow.

Finally, Mary and Joseph arrived in Bethlehem. But there was nowhere for them to sleep. They had to go to a stable and sleep with the animals.

Fun times.
Lucy and Justice were scheduled for hoof trims and new shoes (for Justice) and, of course, my momma was there with camera to document the fun had by all.
Picture quality is poor, due to lack of theater-style lighting in the barn

Unfortunately my momma was unable to get any fotos of Lucy during her mani-pedi, due to an unfortunate incident between (a) Lucy, (b) Lucy's halter, (c) the barn wall, (d) my momma's arm.
Alls well that ends well, though.
Lucy finally had her ~~hoofs trimmed~~ mani-pedi and my momma's injury was minor and she is recovering nicely.

Meet Luigi

My momma did a rescue transport fur this handsome boy on Thursday. He came already named......as Luigi!! This name made my momma giggle, cuz it don't sound like your normal doxie German type name!

A very nice vet, all the way out in Richmond Tx convinced his owners to give him up to dachshund rescue....because the vet had to treat him fur TWO broken legs at different times since January (we suspect abuse, butt obviously those people did not deserve to have a nice dog like Luigi)

Good news is that when my momma picked him up, they took the second cast off....and he is motoring around very good! He is ready fur his foster family.....and then to find his new furever home. We hope he finds it soon....

The 'dog'

So my momma was talking on da phone to Uncle Tommy last night. And while her was talking, her decided to fo to da front yard to turn off da water sprinkler (we ain't had NO rain in furever). Well, her is getting ready to go thru OUR gate.....and her sees a loose 'dog' hanging out by da gate (it was kinda getting dark by this time)
Uncle Tommy is talking away .....prolly nothing too important anyway......and my momma is peering at the 'dog'.....when all of a sudden da 'dog' turns and looks at her with its uber creepy beady eyes and snarl teeths.....My momma YELLS "Possum!!!" into da phone !!
Yeppers, it was one of those creatures straight from H-e-double hockey sticks, staring my momma down. (You might remember that da possums creep my momma out more than ANYTHING!!! And how we had to abandon our house when one of them was in our attic)

Her was entirely too traumatized about da whole event.. her still gets da creepers thinking bout it...so I took da liberty of drawing a foto of da scene. (I think it is pretty lifelike, if I do say so myself)

Anyone know a possum hitman we can call???

The Stuff We Must Endure

As I mentioned in my previous post, this time of year we must endure my momma's long work hours and EVEN WORSE,her lack of brain-powerness that accompanies this event. (i.e. her is even more Crackers than usual this time of year)

Case in point #1 - We have had a sudden burst of Springtime Weather round here lately. So early weather in the 80 degrees has led to an onslaught of UPA (Unplanned Flea Activities) in our yard. Now, my momma, keeps us on da Flea Preventions in da Summertime, butt not in da Winter. Who gets Fleas in February, early March???? Well, I guess WE did! So my momma applied da Flea Preventions, butt since this takes a few days to "kick in" and kill the creepy crawly fleas, her decided to give us all a spritz of da Flea Spray to keep da creepy crawlies from taking over our house.

So, yesterday morning, her gets out da Blue Bottle of Flea Spray.
Let me correct myselfs.......Her THOUGHT her had da Blue Bottle of Flea Spray. Unfortunately, her spritzed my sissie, Pickles, with da WINDEX!!! sigh.
Poor Pickles...............not only did her feel mistaken fur a glass mirror, butt then her had to have an unscheduled and unwanted BATH!!!

Case in point #2 - Our sudden burst of Springtime weather ended this weekend, and da temperatures changed from da 80 degrees to da 30s. Brrrrrrrrrr, right? All her needed to do was turn our heater on before going to bedtime, right? (Puddles, please ignore da part bout our heater actually working)
Well, our lack-of-functioning-brain-cells momma 'accidentally' puts on da AirConditioner instead of da Heater before going to bedtime!!!!! sigh. We gots 38 degrees OUTSIDE and my momma had da Air Conditioner humming away...and cooling us down INSIDE. sigh, again.

Luckily, we have fun Blogville stuffs to keep us from going insane, along with my momma.

So, this is the time of year when my momma is working ALL the times, trying to tame the TAX DEAD-LION!

This year, her has been ~~whining~~ discussing even more than usual ....... her keeps ~~complaining~~ explaining that her fighting the Tax ~~Deadline~~ DeadLion is harder than evers, cuz her office is 'short handed' after losing a longtime, very impawtent employee.
Well, if her is working 'short handed'...........who betters to help her out than a Dachshund!!
We haves the most perfect short legs ever! And if her is short-pawed we are THE Ones to help
So, we have our short legs and paws helping her out...........working our little paws to the bone, I tell ya!!

Pickles!!! Can you hand me the Form 4562 that needs to be included with this Form 1120-S, so I can move on to finishing Schedule E of the Form 1040??????

Possum Report from da Urban Jungle

Minna Krebs here........reporting from our house...aka "The Urban Jungle"

Yeppers, after several days of trying to trap the MOST EVIL possum in our attic, to no avail........my momma decided to 'man-up' so to speak, and return home. She has taken a few precautions, though....
For instance, her has been leaving ALL da outside and most inside lights on at night (thinking that possums will only want to creep around in da darkness) . This idea does make our house look a bit like Times Square on New Years Eve, butt it is her greenpapers paying da Electric bill, not mine.

And since da MOST EVIL possum was last heard tromping around in our attic like a 200lb drunken sailor, her has outfitted us all in doggie pith helmets...........like so>>>>

Now, some furrends have commented that they think the MOST EVIL possums is cute!!!!

This is cute??!??!?!?!?!??!

My momma gets soooooooooo flipped out by these MOST EVIL, creepy, animals from da underworld, that her could not even post this foto without getting goose-bumpies all over herself!

We did have Uncle Tommy put a humane trap/cage out to try and lure this MOST EVIL possum from our house and relocate it far, far way (like South Carolina) . He even bought the #3 dinner from KFC to load chicken and biscuits in da trap (sheesh)

Then we waited to see when he caught MOST EVIL.......
and we waited
and we waited
and he checked da trap everyday (cuz there was NO WAY my momma would look at MOST EVIL possum in a cage)
and we waited
and we waited

FINALLY on Tuesday........we had a creature in da cage!

It was Veranda!!! Our neighborhood feral kitteh!!!!!!

Note.....her was not hurt in da trap/cage..........in fact her was stuffed from eating da entire #3 dinner from KFC!!

Her was not to happy though to be stuck in da cage!!! Boy oh Boy, was her using some serious HBO Kitteh words!!!

That's when my momma decided that da MOST EVIL possum prolly left on its own .......and we could return home!
Thank goodness, cuz we have lots to do to get ready for da BANQUET this weekend!!!!! (unfortunately we won't be bringing possum stew)

PeeS........What a week we have had. We were 'forced' to evacuate our house Tuesday night beclaws a horrible "world's largest" Possum moved into our attic! My momma gets sooooooo flipped out by da Possums that we were rudely awakened at 11pm to evacuate our nice warm beds and drive all the way to Uncle Tommy-da HarleyMan's house for safety. sigh. We have been here ever since, cuz my wacko momma refuses to live in da same house as a Possum!!!

Hopefully, today's check of da possum trap will be successful, and da possum will be relocated out of our house, so we can return. Wish us luck.

Instead of that old fashioned, and frankly disgusting, game called Pin the Tail on the DONKEY.......I decided to put my own twist on it, and develop

Pin the HEAD on the BARBIE

It is a very easy game. No difficult rules to learn.

Ever since da Big Race was announced......fur some reason, this theme has been running through my mind......

We have Bunny. A prime example of the breed known for it's racing abilities. She is long in leg and lean in muscle........and a pink princess!

We have Mr.PIP. A true inspiration to little-dogs-with-unruly-hair everywhere. He may be a little advanced in years, but his athletic prowess shines through in every situation.

I'm sures that the excitement and festivities of this event will totally overshadow 'that game' going on in Dallas this Sunday.

There are cheerleaders for each contestant....

There will be crowds all along the race route.........so get there early!

There will lots of Tail-gating pawties going on........

Uhhhh.....someone needs to explain the concept of Tailgating to this guy......

Before

We had temperatures in the mid 70s on Sunday and Monday. Beautiful!

In fact, my momma was barefoot and wearing a Tshirt on Monday morning at 6 am when we went out for our morning exercise...............

Then "IT" happened.....................................................................................

AFTER

The temperature dropped to the 30s in less than couple hours!

Now this morning we had 19 degrees!! and 9 with da wind chill! Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

And believe it or not, even WE have**Sleet** and **Snow** predicted for Thursday!!

I know we are Snow-Wimps compared to our furrends around da Country......but our thin, Texas blood, has troubles adjusting to these 50 degrees changes in less than a few hours! Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

(and my momma gets VERY grumpy when her has to be out wrapping our warm-weather-only pipes and trying to protect our not-ready-for freezing temperature plants and vehicles.)

She finished her first knitted sock! With her very own ~~paws~~ hands!!

Wouldn't it be easier to buy the 3-for$10 pack at WalMart?

Now, she has knitted shawls and scarfs and is a total whiz at dishclothes (strange but true)........but never had the nerve to attempt socks.

So, after many, many hours....and panicked trips to the Yarn Shop for classes and moral support.........and enough HBO words to fill a Encyclopedia........she now has ONE sock.

She marches around the house with ONE sock on, proud as a Peacock.

Looks like a few sloppy stitches here in the heel......but not bad for your first one.

Don't you think it is about time to stop looking at THIS sock and start making the other one??

I'm thinking this could be a new business development opportunity for Lucy!

Stuffs and Another Twix

Well "Hello Theres" Everyone!

My momma has been having our house painted ...inside and out.....so we all had to re-locate to Uncle Tommy-da HarleyMan's house during this "home improvement project-that my momma ain't doing herself."

Now, you would think her was up on da ladders with a paint brush and caulk gun, by da way her has been stressing and overwhelmed by this event. Butt, all her had to do was make a decision on da paint samples. sigh. Her was carrying around a Big Red Truck-load of da paint samples, and holding ups da little paint sample paper all over our house, and asking everybuddy's opinion. sigh.again. Now, I would prolly feel more sorry fur her bout this MONUMENTALs decision........butt our house is WHITE. and da Kitchen cabinets her had painted are WHITE.

Yeppers, you read that right..........my momma has stressed out over picking da perfect WHITE. sigh.

They all looks da same to me, butt her says "Oh no! There are subtle differences, and we must choose carefully"

In case you wonder......her went with "Very White"

Now on to much more important stuffs.............................................................

My momma has a Dachshund Rescue Transport this morning. And everybuddy who has read my blog fur very long, knows that her has "issues" with naming stuff.......especially dachshunds! Just ask Rooney or Pickles.

So when her had to decide on a name fur the Beautiful Red Dachshund girl that her will be transporting today, her had a MOST BRILLIANT idea! (her can have one, ever once in a Blue Moon)
Her decided that her would chose names fur da rescue dogs in honor of our Blog Furrends!!!

And as soon as her saw da foto of this beautiful Red Girl........her decided that da name should be Twix!
The head rescue lady thought Twix was a most wonderful name fur this girl. My momma said it was cuz her reminded us of a very good furrend named Twix.

So please allow me to present Twix (the Houston, TX version)

Poor Twix, da Houston,TX version was abandoned in da middle of da night at a local Vet Clinic. Her looks very skeered and confused in this foto.........with good reason. Butt her is healthy and will soon find a new furever home, I am sure! Cuz her has such a wonderful new name!!

It has been 20 degrees in Brenham TX and there is NO Central Heating in my Barn!

Everytime me or my momma mention installation of Central Heating and AirConditioning......UncleTommy~the CHEAP HarleyMan just laughs.

Well, all I can say is that I don't see his motorcycle-seat shaped butt sleeping out here with me and Justice in this freezing weather! (He did order up more bales of hay......so thanks for that)

I also have received notification of a few new bloggers that need a visit from the Blogville Welcome Wagon

Edgar is a very handsome scot-dog over at his blog KPCalamities. We think all our scottish terrier friends are so good-looking and fun, so we are glad to have another move into Blogville.

What an honor, I say!

Puddles and Albert and Whitney and their mom sent it as a Happy Adoption and Welcome to Blogville gift Now, the only problem was that my momma was so excited, she opened it up at her office BEFORE she brought it home to me (**gasp***). So she didn't get any live action shots of me actually opening the gifts.

Butt, I am providing this realistic recreation of me............doing the Pickles Happy Dance as I open my pressies.......

The pressies were wrapped so pretty, all pink and black and white polka dotted................

There was a tray of Dog Muffins that look sooooooooooo good that my momma's boss wanted to try one before she let us dogs have one!!! (my momma is thinking of trying to sneak one to Uncle Tommy~da HarleyMan with his morning coffee "just to see if he notices". Heehee. )

We had a WONDERFUL Christmas round here!   We hope all you furrends had a WONDERFUL Christmas too!

So on Christmas mornings we all woke up to see what Santa had left fur us!!!       My momma and Uncle Tommy~da HarleyMan settled in with there coffee next to da Charlie Brown Christmas Tree, and prepared to open their pressies to each other.

So far, it was a typical Norman Rockwell "Its a Wonderful Life" moment, right?!!?!!

Then my momma opened her pressie from Uncle Tommy~da HarleyMan........and her let out a 'gasp"

"Is it Jewelry, my momma? "

"Is it one of them new cars with a GIANT bow on top, my momma?"

"Is it another brudder or sissie, my momma?" fat chance....

"Is it something extra romantical, my momma?"

The Christmas Legend of the Animals

There is a wonderful legend shared by many countries that animals talk at midnight on Christmas Eve.

Now according to legend, at least, Christ's birth occurred at exactly midnight. Inside the stable, the animals watched in wonder as the new-born babe was lovingly wrapped in swaddling clothes and placed in a manger. Suddenly, God gave voice to the animals and immediately they began to praise God for the miracle they had just seen. This went on for several minutes and, just before the entrance of the shepherds -- who had hurried to the stable because angels had told them the Christ had been born there -- the animals again fell silent The legend of the talking animals persists to this day in Scandinavia. And every Christmas Eve, wide-eyed children creep into stables just before midnight to hear the animals

We will be spending Christmas at Lucy's House, so maybe my momma will sneak out to her barn at Midnight "just to check"

Here are a few other Christmas Animal Legends we found very lovely:

Native people of the Americas tell of deer who kneel on Christmas night, looking to the sky as if praising the Great Spirit. Cribs handcrafted by tribes of the United States and Canada include the fox, buffalo, and the bear in their mangers.

On Christmas Eve in Britain, bees gather to hum hymns and oxen and cattle rise in their stalls or kneel in adoration of the new-born king.

I have been a ~~pretty~~ very good dog this year. (me and my momma have already come to terms over that unfortunate incident with the pillow cushions........so I think its all good)

So, for Christmas this year, I am dreaming of da Lovely Francine.......

Now, Santa, I don't want you to get confused, since the Lovely Francine looks an awful lot like her cuzin, Frankie Furter, the Mayor of Blogville and USPS Mascot. Frankie lives up north on his own hill, BUTT, the Lovely Francine is currently living and working in the Crescent City of New Orleans

They can't wait to check da mail everyday now! We are all going to be so sad when Christmas is over, and don't have wonderful cards to look for in the day's mail.

Christmas Shopping on a Sunday

It all started out very exciting. I got to go with my momma all by myself for some last minute Christmas purchases, and guess where we went! Petsmart AND Petco!!!

Yep, my first shopping trip and we got to hit BOTH of the Dog MegaStores in one trip!

WOW! This is amazing. Let's go see what we can find for you to buy me!

Hmmmmmm.....these pig ears and cow hoof look very interesting.
And I do believe they are on sale today! We should stock up!

Then "IT" happened.

My momma spotted the Christmas clothes and outfits. And look what she selected for me...

Now, I really will tolerate wearing a hat every now and then (it seems to make her happy).

But, her found it necessary to have me WEAR IT AROUND THE STORE like this.......Price Tag and All!

And it even gets WORSE.......

When I looked closely at the price tag, it was labeled

My momma let my sissie, Pickles, open her Christmas Exchange pressie. Let's face it, there ain't much room under our Charlie Brown tree, to keep them stored under there fur long.
Her got these wonderful gifts from da beautiful Penny (aka Mrs.Penny-Furter) This pressie came all da way to us in Texas from Canada!!!

Da furst present was this festive Holiday Kong Wubba. Now how did Penny know that Wubbas are our all time favorite squeeky toy???????

Butt, Pickles 'sniffed out' something else in her pressie-pack......

Now this part is ****not fur Zona's brudder and sissie, Wally or Stella's eyes******

We have never had Duck Tenders befores..................butt let me tell you......these are THE MOST Scrum-diddly-lishous treats we ever had!!!!!!!!

Oh yeah......my momma wanted to share a foto of her Transport Passenger from this week.
He was a SUPER SWEET Tweenie size Dachshund Boy.
He had a very unusual marking on his nose, though. My momma didn't hardly notice it in person, butt it sure shows up in da fotos (that is prolly due to my momma's horrible foto taking abilities)
He had alot of extra 'black parts' around his nose. My momma didn't think it was a scar, maybes some kind of skin problem.
No matters, my momma thought he was beautiful...........and her named him SPIRIT. (cuz he had such a sweet spirit, and da Chrismas Spirit and he needs da Fightin'Texas Aggie Spirit to get all betters soon)

We wish you a forever home, soon, Spirit!

And we continue to keep our paws crossed fur da Lovely Lorenza! We have her in our thoughts and are hoping fur good news on her test results. Wouldn't that be da best Christmas pressie ever!

OUR Christmas Tree

We have been enjoying seeing da fotos of everybuddy's beautiful Christmas Trees and Holiday Decorations. So I told my momma, that I would like to share some fotos of Our "Tree"

My sissie, Pickles was speechless was my momma brought this "tree" home......(fur all you furrends outside of Texas......notice that we have NO snows....only brown leaves fur Christmas)

Pickles tried to get into da Spirit of Christmas and have her foto taken Underneath da Christmas Tree.........butt sadly her did not really fit.

Oh well, its da thought that counts, and my momma is all happy and excited to setup her Charlie Brown Tree. One added bonus, is that the after Christmas "take down" is easy-peasy!!

My momma might be taking this whole Snoopy/Peanuts thing a little far, do you think?!?!?!?

Dachshund Taxi - Now in Service

My momma has always been inspired by Miss Khyra and Mayzie and Shawnee and other blogfurrends who are involved in Rescue Transport.

So, just this week, an opportunity came up fur my mom to join one of our local Dachshund Rescue Groups as a Transport Volunteer. And yesterdays, our truck, Big Red was transformed into

THE DACHSHUND TAXI

And here was her very first passenger:

He is a Beautiful Red Standard Boy that her picked up from our County Dog Shelter and transferred to a local Vet Clinic for checkup, treatments etc before he is put up for adoption by Dachshund Rescue (just like where I came from)!

The Rescue Intake Volunteer Coordinator identifies dachshunds left at City, County and Other HighKill Shelters and contacts volunteer transporters to go 'bail them out' of these places.

In fact, when da Co-ordinator furst contacted my momma about her 'First Mission', this beautiful boy had already been placed in line for "that very very very bad place" at the County Shelter.

He was a very sweet boy during the transport adventure with my momma. He was da perfect gentleman

Now here is da funny part..........................................
As part of her Transport Duties, my momma takes fotos of da Rescue Pup for the Groups website (this is NOT her strong point)................AND her gets to select the NAME fur the dog!!!

WHAT?!?!?

Do they know WHO they are asking to pick out a name fur a new dog?!?!?!
Have they talked to my new sissie-who-FINALLY-got-a-name, Pickles?!?!?!

So, depending on locations fur da Transport, my poor indecisive momma has approximately two hours to decide on a name fur da new Rescue! Sheesh!

The Rescue Group is currently using a College Theme fur dogs coming into the program..........so may I present:

Raider Red!

We wish him da best while he is at da Vet Clinic getting all checked out and "snipped". And then we wish him a new Furever Home with da Quickness!

What's In a NAME ???

Ever since my new sissie came to live with us a few short days ago (October 16th to be exact!) my momma has been thinking and thinking and trying out many new names fur her.

Me and Poor-prolly-will-never-have-a-name-of-her-own Sissie held several conferences to try and help my momma out in this process

You look like a Krebs dog to me..........do you want to be Mona Krebs?

We even had a few 'spats' over what we thought da most pawfect name should be..........

You mean you don't like da name Minna Jr ???

Frankly, da poor thing got tired of da whole naming process.........

"Wake Me When You Decide........."

Then LOW and BEHOLDS, while my momma was watching da Texas A&M Football Game, a name POPPED into her head, and her EXCLAIMED.......

THIS IS IT!

This is the most perfect name for her!

And even Uncle Tommy-da HarleyMan agreed.........butt this might be because he was grateful her finally picked a name. We may never know fur sure on this...

So please allows me to present my new sissie's name

The V part is for Vlasic........Uncle Tommy came ups with that part, like the Pickle company.

Butt, da Sorrell part my crazy momma thought of, beclaws there is a kinda famous celebrity named of Pickles Sorrell.

Can anyones remember what TV Show (thats a hint) that Pickles Sorrell was in?

No fair Googling to find out....heeeheee

PUPDATE: Oh my Dogness! In her feverish state last weekend, my momma did not even realize that our Shopping Spree post did not post! Her is blaming it on Blogger.......butt, pawsonally, I think her had some Back-to-the-Future date entered fur the posting time.

There was a bit of bitey-face happening over what the best choice should be......butt we finally worked it out.

So here is our final list of da things my momma needs da most and can't lives without (heeeheeee)

A New USED Car
Considering her recent issues with Big Red's mechanical problems (and all da New HBO words we learned in da process) we thought a change in vehicles might be in order.
We couldn't affords a Brand New Car............butt we found this one, that is only slightly used.
Driven only 500 miles by Mr. Jimmie Johnson on a controlled course........turns only LEFT.

Book of Names

In view of my momma's recent indecision about my new Sister's name............Enough said.

New Gates
My momma has need of new gate here at our house and in da Country at Lucy's house.
Here at home, my new sister jumps da Baby Gate all the time..........her does not follow the rules to stay in our dog room while my momma is gone at work.
And in da country, Lucy is STILL in troubles fur crossing da Cattle Guard and going from her pasture into the human pasture (yard)
I think this gate would do the trick nicely

A Snoopy Toy
Of course, my momma is a HUGE Snoopy fan, so we thought a new Snoopy toy fur her collection would make her smile. This one should do da trick

Family Fun for Uncle Tommy's Motorcycle

We must admit that this pressie is fur all of us. We thought this would be just the Kitteh's Meow fur sharing some Family Time when my momma and Uncle Tommy da HarleyMan go on road trips

The Story of Me

Furst off, I would like to thank everybuddy fur joining in on this Posting Pawty to help celebrate my designated Gotcha Day of Thanksgiving. You are all da best!!

My momma has been collecting da names of everybuddy who pawticipates and we will have da drawing fur the Grand Prize Giveaway on Sunday! I will announce da Winner, right here in BlogLand, on Monday's Post!

Now, fur A Story of Me....

What should I write??? My story is not too unusual

My Gotcha Story is just like all of my momma's Dachshunds.....Simple.
Her gets 'da itch' fur another dachshund, hunts around rescue, shelters, etc etc fur one, and goes to buy it.

This won't do at all..........I need a Gotcha Story with some intrigue and excitement
I need to write a Gotcha Story that is different than all da rest.

Maybe if I just start writing.....it will come to me....

like he said................It was a dark and stormy night in January 2008.

My momma was ~~snoring~~ sleeping soundly, butt kept hearing da sound of a dog whining away. This whining kept getting louder and louder and was keeping my momma from her ~~much needed~~ beauty rest.

My momma finally gets up to go check which one of her precious dogs was causing such a racket.

Suddenly, her noticed that the whining was not coming from inside our house......it was coming from the front yard!

Her peeked out da front bedroom window, and saw a young dog tied to a wooden stake right by da road!!

This young dog was whining and howling and twisting its body all around, trying to get loose from the wooden stake.

My momma goes outside and carefully walks up to this dog. Her had troubles getting it loose from da stake, because it has wound the WIRE string tightly round the stake and could barely moves. Also, da poor dog's collar was fur little puppy, and this dog was about six months old. Da collar was so tight, her had to struggle to get it loose.

My momma took da dog into our backyards and fed it and gave it water. Her thinks that some awful peoples dumped an unwanted Christmas Puppy because a large Christmas Holiday bag was found next to the wooden stake.

So you think this is the STORY OF ME, Minna Krebs, huh?

Nooooooooooooooo.......

This is da story of how my Cousin Elvis Pawsley came into our lives......

Would you tie this dog to a post?????

My momma didn't know what her was going to do with this handsome pup, cuz I had just come to live at our house two months earlier........and her was 'full up' with FIVE dachshunds at da time.

So, my momma called Uncle Chris and sent him da foto of da puppy. He was 'kinda' looking fur a dog at the time......butt no too seriously. He came over and met da puppy, and they fell in love at furst sight!!! YAY!!!!!
He got da name Elvis Pawsley, cuz da morning he was dumped, was da Birthday of Elvis Presley... you prolly heard of him (Notice my momma can come up withs all kinds of dog names fur other peoples dogs.....her is not so good at naming her own. duh. )

Elvis went to live in da Lap of Luxuries at Uncle Chris' house. He fit in really well.......except fur his extreme beagle puppy exhuberence! Butt, many, many greenpapers in dog training later....he is a really good boy (mostly)

Butt da story gets EVEN BETTERS. Uncle Chris was so happy with Elvis, they decided to gets him a partner! So after much shopping, they got a girl dog from Houston BEAGLE RESCUE. Her name is Whitney (yeppers, just like da Puddles sissie)

Here is Elvis now.......all grown up with his beautiful sissie Whitney. (Note that foto was taken when they both caught in the act of relaxing on da Sofa without invitaion)

Happy Endings always make me tearful............................

And because this post should be da Story of ME......I will give you a brief rundown of how I came to live here at da Dachshund Spa.

My momma was looking and looking at da All Texas Dachshund Rescue website furevers. Her fell in love with da foto of a Beautiful Red Smooth Hair Standard Female, named Vienna. And this is what my momma really really wanted. "A Red Standard Smooth Hair Female Dachshund", please.

When da Head-Most Impawtent - Leader of All Texas Dachshund Rescue came to our house fur a home inspection visit, her met all my brudders and sissies.....and noticed that Sissie Ditto was a WireHair.

Her told my momma that a BIG BATCH of WireHair Dachshunds just came into Rescue because a Texas Breeder had gone out of business.....and they had specialized in WireHairs.

To be honest, my momma was not too excited bout this idea......her wanted da Red Smooth Hair Dachshund.....butt, her didn't want to say NO the Head-Most Impawtent Leader of Rescue, so my momma decided just to go take a look.

Her had to drive furevers to out in da country to visit the Foster Lady. The Foster Lady had about a DOZEN WireHair Dachshunds PLUS a bunch of Rescue Rotweillers.....all in pens in her yard

Well, let me tell you, my momma was in Dachshund OVERLOAD!!!

There were WireHair Dachshunds Swarming all overs her! Her had no idea how to choose one!

So, my momma decided her should go home and 'sleep on it'........cuz the Elusive Red Standard Smooth Hair Dachshund was still on her mind.

My momma told Foster Lady that she would think about it and get back with her...........THEN my momma got ready to leave and walked by the dog pen one more time on her way to the truck (this was when Big Red was actually working)

AND ALL OF A SUDDEN........A SHY LITTLE BLACK WIREHAIR STUCK HER NOSE THROUGH THE HOLE IN THE PEN...............AND MY MOMMA FELL IN LOVE WITH THAT LITTLE NOSE AND CUTE LITTLE DOG LIPS!!!!!!!

It was love at furst sight!!!!! Yeppers, my momma fell in love with MY little NOSE and MY little lips!!!

I wasn't da most beautifuls that day, cuz I had lost alot of my furs (prolly poor nutrition at da breeder) and Foster Lady told her I was a nervous type, and very shy......butt NO matters to my momma...WE were meant to be!!!

A Familar and Sad Sight

Some of you may remember a recent "issue" my momma had with our beloved truck, Big Red.

Well, Big Red, is not so beloved anymores.........cuz look what just happened with Big Red AGAIN (insert more HBO words here)

The last time Big Red broke down, Mr. Wealthy Repairman couldn't find any problem, cuz Big Red started up like a champ at da Repair Shop. So, my momma took Big Red home......butt knew da real problem was not fixed.

And........TaaaDaaa! Sure enough, Big Red broke down again.

Now Uncle Tommy-da Harley Man teached my momma how to BANG on da gas tank underneath to get Big Red moving again (how REDNECK can my momma look like........crawling under her truck in da office parking lot to BANG on truck parts?????? I am glad that I was not around to be associated with this behavior)

butt, alas.....that trick no longer worked. See above foto fur evidence.

Now in case you wondering why my momma did not take Big Red to Mr. Wealthy Repairman, instead of using da above BANGING technique........."Mr. Wealthy Repairman-who we will NEVER use again" said he would not work on Big Red again until it would not start at all. WTH????

Needless to say, after being stranded AGAIN, Big Red is on his way to NEW Mr. Repairman (soon to be wealthy)

Yeppers.....................her bought us da SUPER SIZED WOODSTOCK STUFFIE!!!!!

My new-noname-still sister is trying to figure out how to handle a stuffie as long as her is! My momma bought us a stuffie suitables for RH Mango-sized dogs! Did my momma furget that her had dachshunds at home when her made this purchase???

and it gets WORSE........

OH THE HORROR!!!!!! I am unable to watch as my other sister Ditto systematically works on de-stuffing poor Woodstocks.

Momma! This is soooooooooo wrong!

I am in BIG Troubles

I'm keeping low because I have been in BIG trouble lately.

It all started last week when I started crossing the cattle guard that separates MY yard from the house yard. You see, I noticed that all the BEST acorns are around the trees by the house.(who would think that having a donkey wandering around in the yard would cause such a problem?) After all, it is Acorn Season, and Justice and I have pretty much depleted the supply of Acorns around my pasture.

Then I decided that, since I was hanging out in the yard, I might as well spend a little time on the FRONT PORCH, since it is a cozy place to hang out (why not?).

All of this has caused A LOT of HBO words to be directed at me......the loudest when I was spotted carrying the 'fake frog that lives in the birdbath' around the yard! (Who knew they were so attached to the fake frog??)

My thoughts are that if they DON"T want me crossing the cattle guard and hanging out in the yard, they need to get rid of the sign hanging on the fence....

My Avon orders may be a bit delayed.....I have been put on severe restriction by Uncle Tommy (don't tell him....but mom thinks its FUNNY)

Hello Furrends!My momma came up with an idea to help me, Minna Krebs, celebrate MY Gotcha Day!
You see, her cannot remember da exact day I came to lives here, butt it was in late November. Sooooooo, I decided to pick a day that is easy to remember, and I chose Thanksgiving!!!Thanksgiving is perfect, cuz I am thankful to be here, and her is thankful to have me, AND I can be a bit of a TURKEY sometimes too!! Heeeheee.

I wanted to celebrate my Gotcha Day with all you furrends, so when Frankie had da most BRILLIANT idea to share adoption stories......I said to myself " Minna, this will be the perfect way to celebrate Gotcha Day with your furrends" and myself responded "Minna, I think you are right".....

Sooooo, here we are, and here are the details

Veteran's Day Tribute

to some VERY special veterans we know......

My momma has been a member of a special group called da Soldier's Angels. This group supports current Soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan by matching you up as an "Angel" with a Soldier during the term of his or her deployment. You support them by writing letters, sending care packages, etc.

Well, my momma has had the privilege of being matched up with Soldiers in the "K-9 Corps" and getting to support the Soldier AND his MWD (Military Working Dog)

So in honor of Veteran's Day, I would like to introduce you to a different kind of veteran that proudly serve our country.......the Military Working Dog

MWD Rony - This handsome guy was our first Military Working Dog. His handler was Spc. Eric and they were deployed in 2005. We got lots of fotos from Rony, and we understand that after Eric completed his tour that Rony would begin duty here in the states, helping to teach other dogs.

MWD Kimberly - This beautiful GIRL had a special love for balls, as you can see in her foto. We loved sending her Big Dawg Treats and Toys

MWD Brit - This was our latest MWD, the handsome Brit!

aka 'Why my momma came home crabby last night'. Yeppers,ol Big Red decided to break down on her. It was quite the event at the office bldg to have Big Red towed down 3 floors of da parking garage!

And now, a second post fur me today, because I do not want to devote any more time or attention to spam bloggers/commentors.

I will share one of my most FAVORITE Snoopy/Woodstock video clips!

From 50th Anniversary Peanuts....

Woodstock quickly became Snoopy's best friend. He routinely takes Snoopy's gentle verbal digs and practical jokes in stride, and he does not hesitate to stand up for Snoopy..

When told that Woodstock was being attacked by the cat next door, Snoopy immediately rushed to his aid, getting clobbered in the process (what the cat was attacking ended up being actually a yellow glove).

Snoopy has often wondered what type of bird Woodstock is. At one point Snoopy attempts to identify him with the aid of a field bird guide . Snoopy finally gives up trying to figure it out, and hurts Woodstock's feelings by saying, "For all I know, you're a duck". Snoopy takes it back with a quick hug, at which point it becomes clear that it does not matter what type of bird Woodstock is; the only important fact is that he is Snoopy's best friend.

A quick addendum to the post below, by Minna Krebs:My momma and her sometimes-pea-brain done come up with an Analogy fur these pesky cowards.Her thinks of them just the same as those crazy drivers that pull out in front of you, cut you off in traffic and/or tailgate you fur no good reason. Yeppers, you know the ones.They irritate the H-E-DoubleHockeySticks outta you fur da moment......butt they have no identity to you, cuz they is just da crazy driver in a stoopid car. Sooooooo, you might just HONK your horn at them (and maybe say a few HBO words) and then you continue on with your drive!That is how we feel about the spammers.......we will honk our horn and move on with our blogs.....they don't keep us from blogging and enjoying ourselves! And in da future we will just HONK and DELETE! heeehehehehehehheehee

I fully understand that cowardly, small-minded humans can only get their kicks by leaving hurtful comments on peoples blogs and they only want to irritate people and get attention. Plus, I honestly believe this current rash of dog-blog stalkers is happily waiting to be acknowledged on this, and other, blogs. I only intend to give about two minutes of my attention to them on this blog......the time it take me to write this post.

That said, I could not go without speaking when one of these small minded cowards leaves a comment on one of the best dog blog furrends out in Blogland........Puddles...and she is not the first furrend this has happened to.

If you don't like me or any blogger personally, then just don't read my blog. It only takes a nano second to click this page closed and continue on with your life. But some small minded cowards obviously feel the need to write hurtful and hateful comments. And I can only describe them as cowards, because they set up fake blogs for the sole purpose of making these comments.

If your opinion matters so much and you feel like you have something important to say........why don't you finally stand up for yourself and have the guts to show a real identity? I would enjoy a chance to share my comments with you too. Until then, you are now and always will be a small minded coward.

You have now taken three minutes (instead of the two I intended) of my life.......three minutes you did not deserve. I'm done.

My momma took new sissie out fur a shopping spree on Saturday.
It was a FRIGID 65 degrees here in Texas, and my momma decided that her needed some Winter outfits (her was NOT gonna get any of my Minna Krebs Haute Couture)

Butt, my new sissie still has ALOT to learn bout the Training of Mommas.........You see, new sissie is ~~a bit of~~ a BIG suck-up to my momma, and will do anything my momma wants, or thinks is cute.

The plaid walking coat my momma picked out came with a matching HAT!!! Eeeeeeekkk! Now any self-respecting dachshund would REFUSE to wear da HAT. If you ask me, the hat part of any outfit can go straight to ~~da trash~~ da extra clothes drawer. Butt, noooooooooooooo. Little-miss- new-kissup sissie decided to ACT like her LOVES to wear hats!

and the more my momma oooohs and aaahhhs over this.......the more her ACTS like her is liking da HATs

Her even walked around in da Pet Stop store (MY personal clothing store) and let other customers take her foto! Then her sat on da counter and helped MY personal shopper, Mr. Pet Stop Guy, wait on da other customers.
Sigh..............I think we are going to have to have a loooooonng nose to nose talk about this turn of events. We can't have a Hat-lover in da house. This gives my momma all kinds of crazy ideas. Her was even trying to put a HAT on my brudder Rooney this weekend!!! Thank dogness, he had his wits about him and shook it off immediately! (now THAT is the proper dachshund reaction to wearing a HAT)

On da way home, little-miss-new-kissup dog was all worn out from her shopping spree..........Her even ACTS like her likes Hat while her is sleeping

This is so exciting.........it looks like we got mail from the QUEEN OF ENGLANDS!

Look at this envelope that arrived at our house....if you looks real close, the stamp says ROYAL MAIL! Yeppers, I think da Queen is sending us something special......

And I was RIGHT!

The package contained all the information on our Special Sponsor Dog from Dogs Trust.

Dogs Trust is the largest dog charity in da U.K. and sponsors 17 Re-Homing Centers across da U.K.

We won this wonderful item during the Auction for Miss Shelby.

We got to chose which wonderful dog we wanted to sponsor, and we picked

Miss KIRA!!

Isn't she beautiful! We just love, love, love her ears!!!

The package also had lots of information on Miss Kira and some other stuffs....including a neat-o membership card with Kira's piktur on it.

We will also get updates on Miss Kira three times a year!!! Woohoo! I be sure to keep you all updated on her progress.

I'm sure next time my new furrend, the Queen, mails me...she will be inviting me for Tea with her! So I better be practicing my best curtsey.......Heeeheee

A name! Here is my most pitiful face.....begging my momma to finally decide on a name fur me!
The same thing happens EVERY morning....Her announces 'okay, THIS is THE name', and then proceeds to call me Ella or Tilde~ or Danke or Woodstock or Weezie or Paulana or Whatever fur the day......then by evening, her is all 'I'm not sure that really suits you'.
This is the woman who spent an hour talking to da telephone peoples just to get the 'right' phone number, AND who has changed my brudder Rooney's name countless times!! What can I expect........

When me and my momma started on this blogging journey, we never imagined what a wild and wonderful journey it would become.
My momma NEVER imagined that :

We would attend a Wedding for a dachshund and his TWO beautiful brides......and tell our human friends all about every detail
Ride in a UFO
Drink beer and eat cheetos and sip da KoolAid
Lucy would become a world class business entrepreneur
Rush to the computer/or hoofheld to check what our furrends are up to, and what they have to say
Meet furrends from all over the world, and feel like we know them from "down the street"
Shed a tear....or many....for furrends that have crossed to the Bridge.
Be thankful for furrends that shared words of comfort when my own brudder Dude crossed to the Bridge
and SO much more

Butt, our favorites thing about becoming part of BlogLand is all the LAUGHS that we have shared with you all! Even on a non-so-good or crabby day in reality......we have been made to feel betters by sharing a smile, a giggle or a good ol belly laugh with our blogging furrends.

My momma spent da day Thursday at Lucy's house, and witnessed some very unsettling events........It was like Eve and Adam in da Garden of Eden all over again!!!!!!

There has been much speculation around BlogLand recently bout "The Puddles Effect" and the spell that many blog furrends have found themselves under after partaking of da Kool-Aid offered by Puddles to her adoring fans.

When my momma left to drive back to Houston, she could see Lucy and Justice in da rearview mirror........sitting on sofas on da Front Porch....eating Cheetos and Drinking Beers!!

A Little of My History

I was so jellyous da other day when I saw that Frankie had gone to da Pumpkins Festival and found a street named after him. I figured that I would NEVER find a street named after me!

Butt, my momma proved me wrong! This weekend when her was going through some family pictures, her found THIS........

Yeppers.....you read that right!! It is Krebs Road, named after little ol' me....Minna Krebs!!

WoooooHOoooooos!

Here it is on da Google maps.........if you look close enoughs, you will see that Krebs Road is just off of Krebsville Road. Heeeheheheeee~~I told ya I was famous.

This is da 'homeplace' of my momma's relatives in Fayette County, Texas. The birthplace of da Original Minna Krebs

Now I zoomed out so you can see where its located in da State of Texas (da little red A symbol)

And here is MY Road in relation to all of North America. I just knew you would want to see how far you live from Minna Kreb's Road!!! HeeeHeee......

Also, when my momma was going through da family foto album, her found this picture of da Original Minna Krebs!

We couldn't locate a foto of her before when I posted about my name.

For my new furrends, da Original Minna Krebs was my momma's Great Grandmother that her called Oma Krebs. (sorry the foto is just a xerox of the real foto.......my momma is hoping her cousin will send us the real foto for my records)

This is da Original Minna Krebs at her 60th Wedding Anniversary Pawty. When I was adopted, my momma thought I resembled a little German Hausfrau, so she picked my name after her "Oma"

I think da resemblence between us is remarkables!!!

Lucy Update - New Fall Line of Avon Available

Lucy here.....with all the "new dog hoo-hah" going on at Minna's place, I have not had a chance to blog lately. I know you all must miss me terribly.

I am most excited to unveil my fall line of Avon Products, ready to ship immediately.

Eyeliner and Mascara - Here I am modeling the latest in the Avon Line of Eyeliner, I like to call "Puddles Perma-Liner" (guaranteed NOT to fade). I have paired it with "Lash Be Long" in our new Fall Color....Donkee Grey.

Toenail/Hoof Polish - Here is the human mom foot, modeling my latest "au naturale" line of nail and hoof polish. Note that my model is not being very co-operative, as I was forced to tug her by the pants string into the proper position to show my product in it most attractive light. Note to self: hire professional models....

And last but not least, the latest Hair and Fur Mousse with Extra Hold. Note how straight and tall my ears are after using this mousse! All day hold with minimal effort!!

My new sister!

Her came to live with us this weekend. She is now an Alumni of All Texas Dachshund Rescue, just like me!

My momma was all full of da nervousness about having her come to live with us, after my brudder unexpectedly crossed a few weeks ago.

Here she is on da webcam...........looks like her took to da computer right off da bat!!

We spent some time this weekends just getting to nose each other......and got in a little girl talk. I even shared some of my dressies with her. Butt, her has really long legs fur a dachsund, so some of my outfits don't fits her (thank dogness....I didn't really want to share....sssshh)

We even shared a few secrets........mainly about how we keep our long luxurious furs so beeutifuls

I really likes her, butt her has one serious issue that I don't understand.

HER has NO INTEREST in chasing da squirrels with me!! Can you believe it?!?! What kinda dachsund don't like hunting and chasing da squirrels??? We seriously gotta work on this.

Oh, and her has one other issue....................................

Her don't have a NAME yet! Her came with da name of Izzy, but fur OBVIOUS reasons, her needs a different name (there is only ONE Izzy!!!). So my momma been studying her and trying out all kinds of different names on her. This could take awhile, folks! Any suggestions would be appreciated!

my momma was wandering through da Walgreens buying da head cold supplies..ya know, like da tissues and nose spray and cold medicines and wishing her coulds buy beer there too. All of a sudden, her turned down da aisle and Sqeeeeeeled!

Can You See the Rainbow

I was not planning on a blog post today, but after seeing this, I just had to share with you all.

You see, this morning my dear sweet Dude passed to the Rainbow Bridge. I will share a special post about him later, because right now it all seems too new and too surreal to share

What I did want to share is this picture I just took from my back porch on a cloudless fall day. The picture taken with my cell phone does not do justice to the vivid colors of this rainbow but the fact that a rainbow appears in my yard today is amazing. I saw it and cried

To me, this is Dude's Rainbow....a sign from him to me that he made it safely to the Bridge and is now waiting with GigEm and Icee Bear and Olive and on and on. And you know what, I hear there is an unlimited supply of squeeky toys at the Bridge
