Thursday at Minna's House...and Cluck Cluck

Yesterday, I let Miss Lucy show you some pikturs of HER yard, which is da pretty piktur that we are using for our header piktur.  So today I show you piktur of MY yard.....here it is in ALL its glory

Well, I am pulling your leash a bit.......it not quite that small, butt I do not have the acres of beautiful flowers and pasture like Miss Lucy has.   You see, Miss Lucy lives out in da country and we lives in da City of Houston.  "Someday" when my momma has enough greenpapers, she gonna retire full times to da country with Uncle Tommy da Harley Man.  Then we will lives with Lucy all da time.  Butt for nows, we just get to visits on weekends, and sometimes a special day during da week (usually on a Wednesday.......see that why Lucy likes to blog on Wednesdays...cuz that be HER day)

For illustrations purposes, I show you piktur of downtown Humid Houston, and I puts a  red star near where my house be.     You can'ts actually see my house, so don't bother straining your eyes to look too close

Now....as you see, we lives in what you call...an Urban Area, wouldn't you agree?    Butt, here come da WEIRD part.......(we got lots of weird parts in our lives, have you noticed???)

Lately, my mom been noticing the strangest THINGs on the street that you drives on to come to our neighborhood.   She didn't beeleeves her eyes the furst time.   But the next day....there it was again.   Are you ready??
Here they be.....
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.CHICKENS!!

Yep, thats right.  I got me some CHICKENS as neighbors!   The piktur be kinda fuzzy, cuz my momma had to takes it with her cell phone from across da road from them.   But we counted at least EIGHT of them!
They really kinda cool, and they hangs around every evening by the side of the road...pecking and cock-a-doodle-dooing and everything!

Now wouldn't you think these would be Miss Lucy's neighbors in da country?   Noooooooooo, they are my neighbors, right here in Houston!     CRAZY!!!!!

Me and Rooney and Ditto tried to formally introduce ourself, butt they didn't seem very interested in knowing us.   Butt, I will keep trying.   Never know when we might need a few extra eggs..

My mom wants to get out of the city, too! Every time we visit Wisconsin she starts in about how she wants to live somewhere pretty and clean, etc. We don't get to the country every weekend like you - that seems like the best of both worlds.

Also, I forgot to mention yesterday - that Mama rode her first horse over the weekend! Can you believe it took her all these years??? I was quite worried that she might fall off (she is very clumsy), but she managed to stay on the horse!

You have City Chicks MOL!!! They best be watching their backs and cluck quietly or they will be someone/things supper.

Of course you may join PABST!!! The good thing about PABST is they server super duper liquid refreshments and one forgets one's fears. You by they way are the only puppy/kitty to catch to address the acronym. Country living mentioned it but she doesn't have a blog!!!

Hello MinnaK :) It's the Roo guy stoppin in to say... BOO! :) and let you know this wild dog's followin you ;)

I have a chicken in my neighborhood too. Never seen it...only heard it in the morning doin its cockadoodle doo thing. Then one day Mom was driving home and saw this bird in the middle of the road. She picked it up and brought it home.

It was a parrot. It stayed overnight. Next morning when it woke up....cockadoodle doo!

Who would have thunk? Good thing the bird's Mom came and took him back home. Not sure I could stand to hear that cockadoodle doo in my house every day!

Likin chickens in my bowl best ;)

Well, thanks for the explanation, Minna K. But at least you can see the pretty fields sometimes. That is funny about the chickens. There is a lot of controversy around our city because lots of humans are wanting to have chickens here too and they have to figure out if the city allows it. And then there are the stupid peeps who don't want it to happen. With all the egg crap going on now, it mut be nice to know where your eggs are coming from.

Please tell Miss Lucy that we all love her place.

We used to have 3 chickens living next door to us. We called them "the girls" cuz their names were too hard to remember. We miss them - raccoons came in one night & kilt them. Never been to Houston. We do like the country. We just got back from there & If I can get M movin' will be dictating our adventure to her.
Glad you get to go to the country sometimes. The header pic is beauteous!!!!

Hey Minna - it's me, Tank. Your comment on Puddle's blog was pretty funny... made me laugh. I think she's trying to take over the world and I can't decide if this would be a good thing or a bad thing... what do you think?
Maybe those chickens are lost. Is there a KFC in the vicinity?

Those chickens obviously don't have a reliable GPS system or else they'd be hanging out with Miss Lucy in the country! Did your mom give them a ride out of the city? I hope so because they don't need to be hanging around all of those big buildings...it is just unnatural!
Hey, don't furget to come over to my Thursday Blog Hop!

Oh! I LUVS chickens, Minna! But I usually like the kind that don't have feathers and come out of an oven. But I bets those chickens are tasty, too.

You sure do live in a big city. My mom and dad used to live in a city down there called Dallas. She said it's very, very busy. And she said Houston is even busier! I can understand why your mom is looking forward to retiring in the country!

Hi Minna,

Are those chickens running around loose? Maybe you can trade 'em some chicken feed for some of their eggs. My mom would like to keep some chickens in our backyard but the neighbors prolly wouldn't like that.
