Actually around OUR house, you can't teach a dachshund ANY Tricks.
My momma read all about Sugar's 10 Second Treat Contest and decided that one of us should try to pawticipate. (poor woman is always in denial about our training capabilities)
So my momma gets us all out in da backyard and exclaims "Who wants to learn a new Trick?"
Well, dat went over like a lead balloon.....and we all scattered and resumed our more impawtent dachshund outdoor activities. Butt, my sissie Ditto is always kind of a
suck-up willing pawticipant when my momma has some ideas fur us.......so Ditto decided to gives it a try.
Now da point of this Trick is to leaves a milkbone, or some other tasty treat on da end of your nose until da human says you can eat it. (yeah, right)
So here is my momma, loading up Ditto's nose fur da trick........
Ummmmmm, Momma......I think da milkbone is supposed to be on her NOSE!
Well, it looks like it is getting a little closer to the target............note that this is afters about 87 tries
Oops....milkbone on da ground! Better eats it Quick!
Sigh. My momma finally gaves up. Her said she was skeered Ditto would get fats, eating all da milkbones that was supposed to be staying on her nose.
Ditto said all in all, this was not a bad activity, since her got to eat all those practice bones....butt next time her would prefer using da liver treats!!
We tried, Sugar! Butt we are obviously not as talented as your sweet self is!
Oh Minna and Ditto... I am soooooo with you on this one. I told my mom not to even bother. Milkbones belong IN the MOUTH not On the NOSE... I'm just sayin'. At least Ditto got 87 milkbones.
PeeS.. Last night on Hawaii 5 O... One of the guys said..... OUR 87 number.. The Nerve of these Peeps!!!
That is very funny, Ditto! I am full agreement (and I am not a dachshund but a coonhound) that that milkbone trick is kinda silly and I hope my mom agrees! I'd rather have the milkbone in my mouth instead on my nose...BOL!
Oops, Blogger ate our comment!
I was just saying I would like to try that trick!I can eat a BUNCH of milkybones!
I'd like to see a milkbone EATING contest not this torture. Miss Sugar is way too talented for the likes of me and my sisters!! She's my idol!
You knows lead is poisonous!
And so are them tricks.
Oh I furgots to also mention dat your mom must haves been having one of her famous brain bubbles when her thoughts a doxie could be trained...hehehehe!
We tried to convince our Momster to try to teach us that trick. We are smart enough to learn it quickly but even smarter to know that we need to milk it so we could get more treats - drat, didn't work, she was on to us.
Bet Ditto enjoyed it while it lasted.
Woos ~ Phantom, Thunder, and Ciara
Yeah i didnt even try with Fred, he doesnt even know his name half of the time so how could he keep a treat on his nose! BOL
your mommy is one tough cookie for trying though!
Woof! Woof! C'mon never give up. every dog can learn a trick n my opinion have their own way of showing their talents. Golden Thanks for trying ... try it again. You just gave me an idea for a WW post ... hope you check it out. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
oh, i am so giggling cuz my mama tried to do the same thingie with me and asa, only my mama is completely bonkers and tried to get me and asa to do it at the same time. BOL! needless to woof, me and asa had very full bellies afterwards, and mama was totally frazzled. :)
the booker man
pee s -- blogger is being a farty pants today!!
Minna - BOL! Looks like you taught your MOM a good trick. Too bad she caught onto it:)
The Road Dogs
Well, I thinks that's pretty good! Whenever mom tries to teach us that trick, we both flail our heads around wildly and she can't ever even get it CLOSE to our nose...or our head. So I thinks that was Most Impressive!
Wiggles & Wags,
oh don't feel D feet ted!!! 'da Josie can't do 'dat trick eithers... butt yous gave us's a good laughs and yous looked cutes while doing its!!!!
Now 'da Josie hungry after seeing all toes Milk bones!!!!

TOTAL FAILOOWE! but I did get to eat lots of tweats, hehehehe
Bwhahahahaha...oh me's...Yea, I'm back.
I was just laughing bouts da postie in da works.
LMTO! You doxies really keep your people running in circles! As long as you got a lot of treats out of it, maybe you should offer to try again!
I don't do tricks either. Mama calls it selective hearing with me. I pretend not to hear unless there is food involved. Also, see I live with three cats (they practically raised me). My feline siblings have taught me that listening is optional.
Your pal, Pip
I can't do tricks either!
Hmmm... I guess I have a bad trainer!
Kisses and hugs
That's purty funny. We did not even attempt the treat on nose trick....
Hehehe..I gots more furs dat post...coming soon
Oh goodnesses, lemme explain WHY I chose da Donald...he's an entrepreneur just likes da Lucy...nuttin bout looks...hehehehe!
MinnaK you are so right about not being able to teach a Doxie a trick....that is unless said Doxie wants to learn that trick. Ditto, however, did very well with the milk bone!!!
Madi and Mom
I am not sure if I could do that or not! You did well, my friend.
Nice try! I do like your "on the head" variation! Hey at least hopefully the failed attempts got you a few cookies!
Brutus & Carmen
Hi Minna, I actually did try that trick on Eva a couple of days ago and it was also inspired by Miss Sugar. I've to admit that me and Eva failed the test. This trick is no kidding at all!!!
Your pictures look so cute!!! I think you did well, though. Don't give up!!!
Clever Dachshunds :) Lettin Mom put lots of treats on yours heads so you can tilt and eat um LOL!
Thinkin who needs to learn tricks when you can feign and get the treats for free :)
